Contraindications

• Rare (<0.1%): Severe skin reactions (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome), severe hypertriglyceridemia, premature epiphyseal closure, hyperostosis, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, violent or aggressive behavior, depression, suicidal ideation, and seizures.

Drug interaction

Tretiva has several critical drug interactions:

• Tetracyclines: Contraindicated. Concurrent use significantly increases the risk of pseudotumor cerebri.
• Vitamin A Supplements: Avoid concomitant use due to additive toxic effects and hypervitaminosis A.

Overdose

Symptoms of acute overdose are consistent with hypervitaminosis A. These may include vomiting, facial flushing, cheilitis, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, and ataxia (lack of coordination). There is no specific antidote. In case of suspected overdose, immediate medical attention must be sought. Treatment is supportive and symptomatic.

Storage

• Protect from light.
